Safety light curtain and safety light grid (AOPD)
AOPD is a protective device that detects people in designated dimensions through photoelectric transmitting and receiving devices. A series of parallel light beams (usually infrared) emitted from the transmitter to the receiver build a protective area against the hazardous area. If an opaque object completely interrupts one or more beams, it will be detected. During this period, the receiver senses the end of light interruption through signal switching (off state), and outputs a signal to its switching device (OSSD).
The OSSD signal is used to stop dangerous machine states. International standards specify the safety requirements for AOPD. Typical AOPD includes multiple beam safety gratings and safety light curtains. An AOPD with a detection capability greater than 40mm is called a multi-beam safety grating, which is used to protect the passage of people into dangerous areas. The AOPD with a detection capacity of less than 40m is called a safety light curtain, which is used to directly guard the dangerous points of the work, such as protecting fingers, hands, arms, etc.
Multi-beam safety gratings and safety light curtains generally do not activate all the light beams at the same time, but quickly turn on and off the light east in turn, which enhances the immunity to other light sources and therefore improves the reliability.
